Shamrock Company is proud to be the only Midwest Taco Bell franchisee invited to test our innovative brand’s delicious, cold Churro Chillers for a limited time.
Playing host to a product test like this is extremely exciting for Shamrock, according to Shamrock’s VP of Operations, Rob Russ.
Churro Chillers in Chicago:
Limited Time Only!
“It’s important that when Taco Bell has a product that they want to test, we’re leaders in the franchise community,” he says. “I believe in the strength of our operations at every level … we’ve got a lot of tenure in the market and I think that leads to testing products very well.”
Described by Rob as lighter than shakes served by our competitors, Churro Chillers are a creamy, blended drinkable dessert with sweet churro-flavored crumbles. Four delicious flavors — vanilla, strawberry, dolce de leche and Mexican chocolate — are all available exclusively, for a limited time, at Shamrock’s 29 Taco Bells in the Chicago market and Munster, IN location.
The Churro Chiller test will run 12 weeks, concluding mid-summer on July 17. Rob, who admits to happily “feasting” on the Mexican chocolate flavor, said he guarantees product availability!
Insider Insights
Guests can’t miss the arrival of this new drink at Shamrock locations. Churro Chillers are highlighted on digital menu boards inside and out, boldly advertised on a big metal drive-thru sign, and they’re also called out on kiosk tablets.
Just two weeks in, initial data indicates we’re outselling the original test market two to one!
At time of print, members of the “test team,” specifically the Restaurant Support Center Operations team from Taco Bell Corporate, are visiting drive-thrus at a dozen of our test locations to see how our teams are doing, check on performance and gain valuable feedback from the people affected most by new offerings: our boots-on-the-ground team members.
“We’ve got a lot of tenure in the market … that leads to testing products very well.”

On the operations side, new menu items result in the need for extra team training, equipment and process set up, and an added level of food preparation. In the case of Churro Chillers, Rob says each drink is made one at a time.
His message to the team is: “Let’s take our time and make them right.”
Guest feedback is paramount! But it’s too soon to have much to share. The good news is, changing seasons appear promising for chilly chillers.
“We’re coming up on warm weather and I believe this product will be very refreshing during the summer,” Rob says.
