Celebration is in order for our North Aurora, IL Taco Bell, which just scored 100% on its CORE audit! Perfection can be a difficult feat, so we’re proud of this high-performing team led by Restaurant General Manager (RGM) Betty Arevelo-Estrada.

CORE audit evaluations — a Taco Bell standard — are unscheduled and arrive without warning, and happen three times a year. Shamrock’s restaurant teams just have to be ready!

”It’s a surprise, so you never know when it’s coming,” Betty explains. “Every day we wait for ‘the car.’ It doesn’t matter if the car doesn’t come.” 

At North Aurora, Betty emphasizes that customers come first.

Betty says her team knows they should be ready for surprise visits all the time: food needs to be prepped and at the right temperature, the restaurant needs to be clean inside and out. It sounds like a lot of pressure but it’s what our team members have come to know. And guests expect!

Betty is confidently following in the footsteps of Carmen Huerta, North Aurora’s previous RGM. She was promoted to RGM in October 2023. Carmen was Betty’s mentor and according to Betty, left her a “perfect store.” Betty is determined to keep it as such! And in turn, she’s cultivating a team that’s equally dedicated.

Betty goes on to share that when she does have to offer a correction or critique, she makes a point to deliver it nicely. She also models the behavior she wants to see: “If I work hard, they can see me and be like, ‘Oh, she works hard, we want to work like her.’”

“We respect everyone,” she says of North Aurora’s synergy. “And everyone helps each other.”
