Dunkin’ Shift Leader Stacy Dekker is excitedly embarking on a new “indoor adventure” after joining us in November from Urban Air, where she was running the on-site café.
And she’s flying high with opportunity having already been promoted! Stacy recently completed shift management training at the same Dunkin’ she helps manage in Wyoming, MI, becoming the first manager trained at the location and Shamrock Company’s second certified manager on the Dunkin’ side of our business.
At Shamrock, we put people in a position to succeed by developing them to their full potential.
Certification is essential in the restaurant industry. Food safety is paramount, but this is also about manager proficiency and efficiency. Beyond knowing all of the information, do restaurant managers possess the skills to lead the team and the business, run a shift successfully while responding quickly to obstacles or surprises that may hinder service, and make decisions that impact business positively? Shamrock’s ultimate goal is to run its restaurants with managers who are 100% certified at all times.
And our Wyoming Dunkin’ is off to a sweet start with two managers and two trainees already certified!
A Trainee Perspective
Stacy says she feels prepared for her new role, having been a restaurant manager at Burger King for four years prior to her last position. But she’d never been to a Dunkin’ before, so it’s been a new experience.
Stacy was actively looking for a new job when she saw our ad online. After interviewing with one of our local managers and Regional Vice President (RVP) of Operations Ali Youtz (pictured above with Stacy and District Manager Michael McMurray), she was was hired within two weeks!
But before accepting, Stacy says she was allowed to come in and shadow. “I’ve never had a company invite me in,” she says of our unconventional offer.
She had been unsure about coming over to Dunkin’, wondering if the job would prove more stressful. After all, Wyoming is a highly populated area and she would join one of the busiest restaurants we have in the area (we acquired four Dunkin’ locations).
But through training and on-the-job support since, Stacy has been put at ease. She says training went very smoothly, but was more intense than she’s experienced before. You could say it was a great practice for the real thing!
“My experience so far has been pretty good … it’s been actually amazing,” she says. “I love working for Dunkin’.”
“Shamrock … has definitely been a top-tier, No. 1 company to work for.” – Stacy Dekker, Shift Leader
So what makes us a great employer? Stacy had plenty to share: “You’ve got a lot of support, communication is great.” She goes on to tout our benefits package, from medical to dental to disability insurance.
Now that she’s here, she says one of the company’s core values that speaks most to her is to have fun.
“I try to keep my store fun and light,” she says. “Dunkin’ allows you to do that … we’ve made customers sing for donuts!” Join us and you can have fun at work, too!
