It all started with the desire to purchase a new phone. When Assistant General Manager (AGM) Medinat applied to join Shamrock Company’s Taco Bell team in 2019, her goal was to be able to afford a new phone. Today, Medinat’s goals are much loftier and, some might argue, more important: She has medical school on the horizon!
Medinat joined Shamrock Company five years ago and swiftly climbed the career ladder. “It was easy for me to climb up the ladder,” she says. “Basically, I just did my job and I got promoted because I did my job well.”
“This has been the best couple years of my life.”
– Medinat, AGM
It’s been a busy five years for this hard working AGM. In her current role, Medinat oversees the shift, supports Shift Leads and provides training, among other tasks. She views it as her job to “make sure my team’s good.” And that comes in the form of support and positive feedback.
“I have an amazing team,” she effuses. “We have a lot of fun.”
Working for Shamrock means Medinat knows what it feels like to be supported. She acknowledges that her managers have always been good at working with her to adjust the schedule to support school and work.
“[They are] very helpful in helping me integrate my school and work-life,” she shares.
THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT
Medinat has her sights set on medical school, with a focus on research. And thanks to Taco Bell Foundation’s Live Más Scholarship program, she’s found financial support in addition to the emotional support she already receives from the team at Shamrock. Reflecting on what motivated her to apply for the scholarship, Medinat says, “I just was thinking, why not? And I won! And it’s amazing!”
In fact, Medinat is a three-time Liv Más Scholarship winner! The most recently awarded $5,000 scholarship brings her grand total to $15,000 in financial support, which will make a huge impact on her education goals.
“It will be a lot of help in the future,” she says. “And it’s helping me a lot right now.”
Live Más is a passion-based scholarship, which aligns with Medinat’s vision for her future. Her focus is medical research, specifically related to sickle cell disease, a condition that has impacted multiple members of her family.
Will Medinat go for a fourth scholarship win? Signs point to yes! “I think I’m having a good-luck streak here,” she says. And we’re having good luck with hires like Medinat on our team!
