Fast-Paced Career, Longevity for Baltazar Nunez

Categories:

The Bolingbrook, IL Taco Bell is one of our highest volume locations at Shamrock Company. Good thing for us, Restaurant General Manager (RGM) Baltazar Nunez thrives working in a fast-paced environment.

If you think he must be a newbie bringing fresh energy, you’d be mistaken! Baltazar is a seasoned veteran of quick service — he’s been with Taco Bell for 28 years! He joined at just 18 years old, following a family member who also worked for the brand. “That’s where my career started,” he shares.

Opportunity was around every corner for this hard working, quick learner. Baltazar started as a cashier before climbing our career ladder to Food Champion, then Shift Lead and Assistant General Manager (AGM), before being promoted to RGM.

“[Shamrock] offers opportunities if you’re available for it.” – Baltazar Nunez, Restaurant General Manager

Key to Success

What’s inspired such impressive career longevity? The culture, people and service, to name a few factors!

According to Baltazar, the key to success for a high volume restaurant is having the right people in the right places. As a manager, he’s dedicated to properly staffing every shift in order to eliminate stress for his crew.

A main area of focus for the Bolingbrook team is speed of service, for which, Baltazar says, communication is key. “We have to try our best,” he says. And that goes both ways! Baltazar is proud of the working relationships he’s built with his team. “I always listen to them,” he says. “If there’s a problem, I try to fix things.”

If his nearly three-decade career wasn’t indicative enough, Baltazar says he has no plans to leave Taco Bell. But he does have plans to keeping moving up! He’s eyeing the Area Coach position next. “That’s something I would like to do in the future, if there is opportunity,” he says. If there’s one thing you can count on here (besides delicious tacos), it’s opportunity!
