Life can be cyclical. No one knows that better than Tammi Clemens, Restaurant General Manager (RGM) at our Oak Forest, IL Taco Bell restaurant. Tammi’s Taco Bell journey began as an Assistant General Manager (AGM) when she was just 18 years old, and has seen her through many different phases of adulthood: marriage, motherhood, divorce. Eventually, Tammi moved to California for an office job opportunity with a different company. She stayed in the golden state for eight years.
“I had to put Taco Bell aside to raise my kids,” she shares. Tammi’s son is now 25 and her daughter, 24; Tammi doesn’t regret taking time away for family. “I’m thankful that I was able to be home and raise them,” she says. “It was great. I got to watch them grow up. But … I’m back!”
I have no intentions of going anywhere. I’m really happy. – Tammi Clemens, RGM
BACK AT THE BELL
Fortunately for us, the desk job life just wasn’t Tammi’s thing, and now she’s back in the RGM role, opening a new Taco Bell for Shamrock Company. “It’s exciting,” she shares. “Things are going great.”
Tammi says she loves working with people, and derives a lot of enjoyment from training new hires correctly in their roles. She likens the experience to motherhood. “It’s kind of like when I was raising my kids,” she says. “I’m teaching them all these things that I get excited to do.”
It’s clear that Tammi takes pride in her work. “I love my job,” she says. “I don’t have any issues coming into work because I enjoy it.” She also cites the many benefits available to Shamrock team members as great incentive for her to bring her best every day.
[Shamrock] is a great company to work for where there is room for opportunity.” – Tammi Clemens, RGM
They say happiness is contagious, and that’s certainly been true for Tammi. “Everybody always has a smile on their face and they’re just happy to be a part of this company,” Tammi says of the Shamrock culture. “Knowing they’re happy makes me happy. I’m working for a great company and great people.”
Tammi’s five-year plan includes more of the same! She’s happy in the RGM role, but says if there was an opportunity for advancement she would take it. Opportunity is our specialty!
