At our recent summer picnic, we had the chance to speak with Mekayla Vandersloot, who’s a crew member at our Dunkin’ in Byron Center, MI. Although she only just joined the Shamrock team in April, Mekayla has been coming to the Byron Center Dunkin’ every weekend for a year — she loves Dunkin’ drinks!

Eventually, she realized she was coming so often as a customer that she thought to herself, I just need to work here. Mekayla applied and got herself a job. Since then, she’s become an irreplaceable part of our team. 

THIS IS HOW WE BREW IT

Mekayla loves that being a crew member at Dunkin’ allows her the opportunity to interact with others every day. “I have some regular customers, and I love seeing their faces,” she shares.

Her friendly nature doesn’t end at Dunkin’, either — and that’s because Mekayla is currently in nursing school at Baker College in Muskegon, MI. She’s about to be a senior and will graduate in 2026. Her passion for people and taking care of them is what drove Mekayla to become a nurse — and it’s clearly what makes her such a great team member at Dunkin’, too.

ONE SIP AT A TIME

When she graduates nursing school, Mekayla hopes to continue working at Dunkin’ — even if it’s just one day a week. She loves her team, and shares that they’ve quickly become more like family. “Some of the girls I work with are invited to my wedding!” she says.
