Angie Vanegas-Martinez has worked with us for almost two years, and just six months ago, she was promoted to Restaurant General Manager (RGM) of the Lomira, WI Taco Bell. Way to go, Angie!
We sat down with Angie to learn a little bit more about her story and how she got to where she is today.
A LITTLE BIT OF BACKGROUND
Angie was born in Colombia, South America, but moved to the United States in 2020. After a two-year stint in Houston, TX, a cousin in Wisconsin encouraged Angie to move north to be closer to family. Angie agreed, and she’s been a Midwest resident ever since.
When she first arrived in Wisconsin, Angie took a job in the manufacturing industry. While she enjoyed her role, she says that the tasks she was assigned were often very repetitive.
“Manufacturing is good, but it’s kind of the same thing every day. And I’m a person who likes to move,” Angie shares.
THE START OF SOMETHING GREAT
Angie heard about Shamrock Company through a friend. She applied, got the job and started working as a Food/Service Champion.
It was only a matter of time before Angie found that she loved working in the quick service restaurant industry (QSR). In Colombia, she held a position in HR and loved working with others. Like her previous role, her new job at Shamrock allowed her to interact with new people every day — and it was also the perfect way to continue practicing her English!
Angie adds that when she first started with us, she was able to keep her part-time job in manufacturing and work at Shamrock. Her manager was really flexible and happy to work with her busy schedule.
I moved here to find opportunities — that’s what this country has given me. That’s also what Shamrock has given me.

MOVIN’ ON UP
It was clear to leadership from the start that Angie had major growth potential. Soon after she took the job as a Food/Service Champion, she began working as a Shift Lead. From there, she was promoted to Assistant General Manager (AGM).
It was her Area Coach (AC), Marcial Hernandez, who noticed Angie’s work ethic and how busy she was with both of her part-time jobs. He asked if she’d be interested in working at Shamrock full-time as an RGM instead. Angie happily agreed.
SOMEONE TO LEAN ON
Angie is really enjoying her new role, although she admits that some days can definitely be hectic! However, she receives a ton of support from her teammates, citing TJ, her current AC, as being particularly supportive. Angie also confides in Kenia Lopez-Rivera, a fellow RGM who was hired around the same time, when she’s stumped on how to solve a problem.
I know that if I need help, I can raise my hand. I know if I don’t know how to do something, I can always ask.

As RGM, Angie has taken all the fantastic management skills that she received during her own time as a Food/Service Champion and passed them along to her team. She shares that it’s important to her to get to know her team beyond just work, and that learning about their personal lives helps her make schedules they’re happy with.
Angie’s skills have expanded to areas other than management, too: now that it’s the holidays, she took it upon herself to decorate a few restaurants!
A TRUE TEAM
For those who are hoping to have a career that looks like Angie’s, she shares that with time and confidence, they’re sure to gain more QSR knowledge. She also assures future managers that yes, it’s true: Shamrock really cares about its people. According to Angie, “We are not alone. We are a team.”
Angie, we couldn’t be happier for you and your new role. We can’t wait to see what you’ll do next!
